The Ivfworld.com Success Series explores the factors that make a fertility clinic a genuine winner in the eyes of patients, which are not always those that are most obvious, and looks at the IVF clinics that are leading the way. In today's analysis of the latest Ivfworld.com survey, we take a look at CRM London which puts a strong emphasis on environment.

”Our vision is for us to be a reference centre for IVF in the private sector,” said Mr Robert Foreman, head of CRM London, which ranks among the top fifteen fertility clinics in Britain with 78.4% overall, according to the March 2006 Ivfworld.com Survey. He is quick to add: “That doesn’t just mean good results.”
CRM has state-of-the-art premises, designed for patients and staff to feel different in different parts of the clinic. “The patients waiting area doesn’t need to be like a hospital. It doesn’t have to have a medical look,” remarked Mr Foreman. When you walk in the waiting room is partitioned off in a number of places by wide white net curtains, creating a number of areas which ensure a patient’s privacy if they want it.
The clinic was built from scratch. Mr Foreman sat down with the architect and looked at what mood he wanted to create and designed the clinic around that theme. The idea was to develop a modern, calm and relaxing space for all. This Feng Shui type of approach appears to be reaping benefits. Patients tend to feel more at ease in this type of environment.
This attention to detail is evident the moment one walks through the door. “The feeling we wanted to create is built into the fabric of the clinic, down to the shape of chairs and light fittings.” The owners manage the clinic a bit like a hotel, in other words they view customer service as the whole experience.
CRM London generally treats women up to the age of fifty, but does consider treatment for those over this age in some circumstances. For example, a woman who conceived through IVF in her late forties had another treatment at 52 as she wanted a sibling for her child. “Every case is dealt with on an individual basis,” remarked Mr Foreman. He doesn’t treat women over the age of 54.
