Hi
I'm new to this and have been reading through the posts on the board. I'm considering Eugin in Barcelona and was interested to hear from anyone who has used this clinic before. I wanted to know what kind of experience you had, how long it took and whether you were successful?

Although I've seen this name mentioned I can't see any reviews for it or read of anyone that has been there.

Hi
We had our first appointment with Eugin in July. They were very nice, very multi-lingual and laid back.
Whilst I wasnt yet 100% sure about going through with the egg donor programme ( as a receiver) we got the ball rolling- my husbands sperm was collected for analysis and freezing. We had already done most of the exams required and had the results with us.
The doctor we saw asked us to do a couple more exams after having interviewed us. One of them, the Karyotype, takes 3 weeks for the results, which we are waiting on now.
The one thing that I feel needs to be addressed a bit more is the number of eggs they implant- the Dr suggested implanting two eggs and you have to enter the number you want on the contract.
I just spoke to my gyneco who warned me about the risks of being pregnant with twins at 40+. Im 43. He suggested just asking for one egg and doing the programme twice if necessary, rather than two eggs. Of course the chances are higher with two eggs, but down the track we may be faced with hypertension, premature birth, and loads of other risks....
Ive yet to discuss this with the Eugin doctor- Id be grateful for any advice.
Also, whilst I told them of my 'racial' background I got the feeling they only match 'phenotype' which is really only hair, eye and skin colour- Id like to think I could choose cultural background but I dont think this is possible due to the anonymity laws....yet another thing I will bring up.
We were told that once everything is in place the whole thing will take one month. Will try to keep you posted.
Anyone else been through this clinic?

Hi, We have used Eugin twice for DE ICIS. After serveral failed IVF with OE in the uk our consultant said we should consider DE, we said we would go to spain for the anominity he couldnt actually recommend any clinics but he did jot down 3 clinics which he had actually been to and on the list was eugin, I did research all of the clnics he gave us + many more and finally decided to go with them.

Our 1st consultation was in Oct 09, they give you a long list of tests to have done and take the results with you, but my clinic in the uk, The Priory @ Birmingham said a lot of them were not necessary so I emailed Eugin and they narrowed the list down quite a bit.

When we got there the staff were really friendly and spoke good english. My DH had to do his deposit and then we saw the doctor and went through our previous history, the whole appointment took about 3 hours. They recomended that my husband had the kyrotyope test which takes 3 weeks to process we booked this with our doctors when we got home, once the results came back they gave us the go ahead for treatment.

As my DH is self employed and his busy period is sept to
Dec we decided we would start treatment in the new year, the clinic were fine with this, our 1st lot of treatment started on my next cycle in the new year which was, mid Feb 10, I started taking the meds and then we got the call to fly out for ET on the 5th march, our donor was 19 yrs old and we had 5 eggs collected, all fertilised fine, we had a day 3 transfer one 8 cell & one 9 cell, the others were not good enough to freeze. had the blood test and unfortunately it didnt work.

they said we could start our next treatment on my 2nd natural cycle, unfortunately my cycle didnt want to start and therefore this delaying us starting again.

Our 2nd cycle started mid Jul 10, this tme I had requested that we have a donor who had either donated before and was sucessful or had had her own family, this time our donor was 31 yrs old, We got the call confirming ET was on the 13th Aug, we had 6 eggs collected, 5 of which fertilised fine, we had day 2 transfer 2 embies which were both 4 cells, the other 3 were good enough to freeze. I did a test on thurs last week and it was positive!!!!! since then I had done another 5 tests, including the ones which tell you how many weeks you are and these have gone from 2-3 weeks pg to 3+ weeks pg so the HCG levels are increasing!.......I had the blood test done on friday as soon as I have those results I will make the appointment with my doc here I have already let the clinic know but they still want the blood results to confirm it.

My overall exerience of Eugin was good even though it didnt work the 1st time round, however they are quite expensive I think in the end it cost around 7500 euros per cycle which included mine and the donors drugs but it is soooooooo worth it .

sorry this kinda turned in the an epic post!!

good luck in where ever you decide to go.
Dx
