Author Looking for a good clinic in East Midlands
nurangiles posted on 8 December 2011, 11:56

Hi

I would like to start my first IVF treatment privately as NHS does not give me any foundation in East Midlands. I do not want to choose the clinic after checking their success rate. Does anyone can advice me any clinic they are really successful?

Thanks

Hi, I wanted to contact you because I'm in Derbyshire and have just made an appointment at Care in Nottingham, and I know that you are from the area. Didn't have a clue about where to go so just went for the most convenient, and have just found this site. My appointment is in March just for a consultation, I am far from making a decision on this even though I'm 44 and time is running out! I've also seen your postings on other parts of the site - I have just have my results back, my KSH is 6.8 and my AMH is 4.2pmol. Felt pretty down about my AMH test but I guess this has a lot to do with my age? I don't really know. Anyway if you want to get in touch please do, I'd be interested in swapping notes with you, Julie

Hi Julie,

Yes I am from Sandiacre. I am devastated as when NHS said I only have one option which is donor egg I did not believe them so I went to see other doctors and they all said the same thing. Eventually I went to Care Clinic and the doctor said trying IVF is pointless donor egg is the best way to try.

I have been thinking what to do for a while and me &my husband decided to try donor egg without even trying IVF. Because I am having early menopause if I get pregnant I can prevent menopause a bit while and then try IVF.

I am going to see Nurture clinic tomorrow as I tried to make an appointment with Care as well but I have been told NHS refereed me to Nurture clinic so they can not refer me to two different clinics.

I am just praying hope there is no long waiting list as I am stressed everyday more and more.

What are you going to do now Julie? Will you try donor egg or IVF? AMH depends on the age but also many factors. I am interested in swapping notes with you as well, please send me posting about yourself and your progress at least we are not alone here.

xx

Hi, I'm sorry its taken a while to respond, thanks for your message. It can be a stressful business this, can't it? I hope that your appointment went well? I'm glad that I've had a while to prepare for my consultation as I really knew very little about fertility treatment, so I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible at the moment. Lets see what they say at Care in a couple of weeks time. If I needed a donor egg, I think I would have to stop there because the cost would be prohibitive. I would seriously consider adopting but I have a chronic health condition and am terrified that I would be rejected for it and it would leave me no-where else to turn. Plus I'm single (despite much searching once I tell a man that at my age I want a family they tend to bolt). I think I am strong enough to go through IVF l on my own but it must be so distressing if the treatment fails, and at my age I'm also concerned about the increased risk of miscarriage. Still, Care seem to have some good results, so clearly its not impossible...It would be great to keep in touch, thanks again for responding and I'm keeping everything crossed for you. x

Hi Juliehurj,

I am glad you have a chance to try IVF so do not hesitate. I wish I had tried IVF but they all advised me donor egg:((.
Do you want to try donor egg in the future ?

I know it makes it a bit harder when you are single but Care Clinic optimistic so you still have a chance to getting pregnant.

We are waiting for a donor now. I do not know what to do apart from waiting. I have been told that I am CMV(+) so it is easier to find a donor so we will see.

I will let you know about my progress.

Thanks. So I finally went on Friday for my consultation. My intrafollicle count was normal and one ovary is accessible. A couple of cysts but the consultant said they were too small to worry about now. But the total surprise was that because I am over 43 (only just!), CARE won't recommend IVF because the chances are so slim. They therefore recommend IUI instead as its less invasive. I was really suprised about this, apart from my AMH all the signs are good, but the consultant said I should anticipate 5% success rate. I'm going to ask around on the forum and wonder about getting a second opinion on this. How are you getting on, still waiting?

Hi

I am still in the waiting list since last month. I need to be patient but sooo difficult. Let me know about your progress. If your AMH level is ok you should try IVF but they may have a good reason. Search more.

Take carexx
