Dear Dingle
I read your post and just wanted to reply. I haven't had the issues you have had so I can't offer any advice regarding that.

However I am also 44 and have just got my BFP after our 4th attempt [ 2nd attempt with donor eggs]

I can remember feeling that having a baby was unobtainable and the sadness that goes with that thought.

For this last time I worked on trying to reduce my stress levels by having acupuncture and making the plans to suit me. It was easier for me to go for the ET with a friend rather than my DH, and made the time abroad easier, although my DH and I are very supportive of each other, it was more important he be at home rather than in spain.

Try to put things back onto a better footing with your DH, it will make the process easier if you have each other for support.

I wish you all the luck and lots of baby dust.

Love Jackie

Hey dingledell -
I am 40 and have just finished our second round of icsi, we are self funded too, both negative. devastated. Our first round I got a positive result but bled a week later, this time it was negative. They think egg donar is probably the way to go, so will be discussing this at our follow up appointment.
As hard as it is, try to relax - so much easier said than done I know.
There are lots of lovely ladies on here with lots of different experience so take your time to read through their posts and stories hun. I found, and still find, it very helpful.
Try and use this time to get things back on track with hubby - maybe show him some of the stories on here? If he is anything like a lot of men he will be worried about saying the wrong thing etc.
You are doing everything right in terms of exercise and diet etc so fingers crossed this is your time hun.

Latania, huge congrats on your positive - its lovely to hear success stories - I hope I get mine some day.

ababyplz - where are abouts are you hun? There is a shortage of donar eggs in the UK so I am sure some very lucky lady will be pleased to receive them towards the cost of your treatment. Have you spoken to your clinic?
We have been told that there is a waiting list for eggs so I dont think you are going to have a problem.
Much love to you all

Hi Dingledell
As Jackie said (we are both from another thread) don't give up just yet!
You have been through a torrid time, well done for persevering! I also agree with Terry and Jackie, NB to try and restore your relationship with DH, that is the most important thing. You cant really do this without his support. If there is a male factor problem then his self-esteem will be in the toilet and he will not know what to say to you. Try and reassure him that you do not blame him in any way. Since my DH managed to fertilise some (donor) eggs he is so pleased with himself it is unbelievable. A man's self esteem is massively linked to their ability to get their girl up the duff:)

As for you, if you need people to talk to, this site has kept may of us going through very dark days.
Wishing all the very best and success in the near future
xx
Cathy

We live in Kent and have been trying for a baby for about 4 years now.

I have had a cycle of IVF, but only produced one egg and now the clinic says they cannot go any further and recommend finding someone who will donate eggs or register for egg sharing.

However, I have been told by the clinic they recommended (as my current clinic cannot do egg sharing) that the egg sharing will take about 9 months before they can find someone. I really feel that I cannot wait that long to start the process.

I was wondering if there is anyone who would be willing to donate eggs.

Hi there, sorry no-one has replied, probably cos most of us on this particular part of the forum need eggs ourselves! I think that is why almost all of us have gone overseas, to Spain or Greece etc.
I was told we would have to wait a year for eggs in the UK...
It depends on your age - can you afford to wait?
I am 45 and had no time. So off to Spain it was, 3 months later I am 5 wks preg and hoping it will keep.

The downside of Spanish baby eggs is that the process is totally anaonymous, so you and your baby will never know who the donor was. Maybe that is a benefit??
In the UK when the child turns 18 they can apply to trace their egg donor mommy.

Wishing you all the best with your decision making process x
