Hi ladies,

I tested BFP on 10th Sept which my clinic confirmed on 11th. They said my hcg level was quite high at 459 - I'm assuming this is nothing to worry about(?)... I have my scan on 2nd Oct...!

I hardly had any symptoms at all on my 2ww so was gobsmacked to say the least to get my positive... The last couple of days I've been feeling really tired and hungry all the time. I'm not sure its quite sunk in yet.. I bought 'The Rough Guide to Pregnancy' on the way home from work today... DH is reading it at the minute... bless him!

Would be great to share the journey with any new BFP ladies!

Fingers - have you checked with your clinic about the brown discharge - I'm sure its just old blood from the implantation! Crikey... the worry doesn't stop does it...

LOL

Hi andie, how spooky is this, next stage of the journey and to be honest i never thought i'd get this far. I'm still too scared to get too excited but i do have my little day dreams and have caught myself hugging my belly quite a lot lol :-)
I called my clinic today as have not been offered a HCG but she stated not to worry as everyone's treatment is tailored to suit them, so i now have to wait till 25 sept for my 6 week scan but she did warn me that we may not detect a HB at that stage as it was too early but they are now doing them early incase they need to adjust the meds....all very technical :-o so its more waiting,,,,,and its killing me !!!!!
I also get tired about 2ish and always feel hungry, which i must keepin check or i will be in trouble.
Anyway here's hoping this thread is as lucky as the 1st Andie :-)
Take care

Hi Ladies,

It's good to see you over here and you're right Andie the worrying doesn't stop. I don't know if you've seen my other post about being taken off pessaries. I'm very worried that the nurse has got this wrong. I'm going to have to phone the hospital at 8 today.

Keep in touch!

Hi Ladies,
so glad to have made it to this tread, but you're right andie the worry doesn't stop with the BFP I think it starts!

Fingers you didn't get offered a blood test right? Me neither, at the clinic they just did a pregnancy test and said I had a strong possitve so they were fairly sure it wasn't chemical.

I think if I could have my bloods done I'd be able to relax more. Oh well scan is booked on September 30th so long away!

Hi Catherine, I wasn't even given any meds except one injection of Pregnyl post ET so please try not to worry.

I'm off to Croatia tomorrow and got to get up at 4am ahhhh! We booked it because we thought that we'd be misserable right now but we're not and actually I'd rather not go. Probably not going to mention that to DH as he is likely to murder me.

Off to pack, have a good week all.

lots of love parma

Hi Girls,

Really strange to be here!!! So pleased so many of us are.At one stage really thought it was all over.
I'm am too still too scared to get excited. Me and hubby are both still in a state of shock.
As I only tested late last night, I will have to wait till Monday to find out what the next step is as I have no idea.
I received a copy of a letter from the hospital address to my doctor saying that I need to carry on using the pessaries up until the 12th week if I was to get a positive result. Has anyone else been told this, if so is it still two a day?

Sorry to sound stupid F, but do all hospitals scan at 6wks now, I just thought you had a scan at 12wks. ( I think I wll need to get a book asap as I know nothing!!!)

Anyway girls it's so lovely to be here, take it easy and have a good weekend.

Lots of love

Gx

Hi ladies,

I've just posted a BF Congratulations to G-Bev on the 2ww thread! I'm so pleased to see so many of us on BBB!!!!

Catherine - I just replied to you on pessaries on the other thread. I also stopped taking pessaries on Weds and my clinic won't be prescribing any more. They said ladies will be producing it naturally at this stage and just don't need any more! I just don't know what to think.. but I guess they have a good success rate so I'm happy to take their advice...

Have any of you lovely ladies got any more children or is this your first? I actually have a six year old son from my first marriage - I know I'm so lucky to have him already! Me and (new) DH have been trying for our own baby for so long so this has made us soooo happy...

Parma - you lucky thing! Fab news and a fab holiday! Have a fantastic time!!!

A night in for me tonight with X Factor, DVD, lots of food (always hungry!) and orange juice (not quite as exciting!)...

Have a great night girls...

I can't believe that we're all here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tested BFP on 11th on my 3rd attempt. DH and i have been together 10 yrs but only married 6 months so i was v positive that this was my time. He has 2 kids from before (both at uni) but can't wait to be a dad again!!!
About the pesseries - i posted on the 2ww that i was told that if you had transfer straight after egg collection, you didn't need to stay on them, but i had FET so have to use them for another 3 wks at least ( i just got them form my GP). Still haven't got date for my scan i think it's at about 8 wks so they detect a heartbeat (ie at end Sept)

i did buy "your preg wk by wk" which is just ok, so if any of you has a good book to read - i just want one to tell me, do this, do that etc (i think i'm so used to taking drugs and counting dates!!)

Temp regulation is up the left, and feeling funny about some things to eat - is this too early?? No change in boobs get. And having to go back to work tomorrow, which i'm really nervous about as i've got my own little cocoon at home to keep me safe! But have decided that i will tell all that i work with, so they can help me as much as possible in the coming wks.
I took another test just to make sure, and there enough, 2 pink lines!!!(You can never get enough of looking at that - i'm getting sadder by the minute!)

Parma - go and have a great holiday!
Andie - thanks for starting this tread for all of us!
g-bev - don't worry about scan, everywhere does their own thing, it doesn't mean it's wrong
catherine - hope pesseries stuff is ok - i'm sure it is
fingers - i've even started thinking about boys/girls and names, so don't be too embarressed about the hugging tummy thing!

Chat soon

Congrats to all,

g-bev, I hope you dont mind but I was just replying re pessaries, i think it depends on which clinic you use i was told to stay on them until week 12 but i know alot of other clinics stop after pos result. I has to use 2 per day until week 11 then 1 daily until week 12, the nurse told me there were no studies to support that they actually work as your body produces it anyway but she said that was the procedure they followed. I had 1 8 week scan then was discharged form ivf clinic.

So i wouldn't worry about what other clinics do.

take care all

Hi F,

You must be out of your mind with worry - I'm so sorry hun!

I'm sure its going to be absolutely fine but I know that doesn't ease the worry... I have read sooo much about brown discharge being common during early pregnancy - its nearly always just old implantation blood. Could you ask your clinic to do an hcg blood test (or ask your GP or another clinic to do this for you). This would at least give you reassurance that the level is still high.

I spoke to my clinic this morning about the whole pessary business as I got myself a bit concerned to read that most other clinics continue these until 12 wks. My clinic insist that they don't believe the pessaries are necessary past BFP but they did offer to carry out another hcg test if I was worried which I thought was good of them so some clinics must use this as a sign that the pregnancy is progressing well. I hope you can find some reassurance...

Bed rest does sound like good advice - theres a few people on previous BBB threads who've rested a few days which has stopped any bleeding. However, I do think an increase in (yucky) discharge is normal (I'm always toilet checking as it really feels as though my AF has started big time). Apparently our bits go into overdrive on self-cleaning when pregnant so thats probably why its more obvious now.

Take care and rest hun and let us know how you get on - I'm thinking of you...
LOL

F,

Remain positive. Like Andie, all the reading I've done suggest that brown blood is old blood.

Put those feet up and think about those lovely times ahead. Visualise holding your baby and have a chat to it. My clinic does not offer blood tests but I've never asked for one. I think if you ask they'd find it hard to refuse you given the circumstances.

Thoughts are with you

Catherine
